Privacy Policy
APPNEST TV has no accounts and builds no profile of you. The only thing sent to us is anonymous device information, and this page says exactly what that is.
The short version. No sign-in. Your favourites, settings and recordings stay on your phone. We never see which channel you are watching tied to you, and nothing you record is uploaded.
Introduction
This is the privacy policy for the APPNEST TV Android app, made by APPNEST. APPNEST TV is a live-TV player: it shows a list of channels and plays them.
There are no user accounts and no sign-in. We do not build a profile of you and we do not track your identity. The only information sent to us is the anonymous device and usage data described below.
Channels and playback
When you open the app it asks our server for the channel list. When you tap a channel, your device connects to that channel's video stream and plays it. Which channels appear is controlled from our side; the app itself contains no channel list of its own.
- What we do: serve the channel catalogue and hand the player the address of the channel you picked.
- What we do not do: link the channels you watch to your identity, or keep a personal viewing history on our servers.
Favourites and settings
Your favourite channels and your preferences — video quality, "keep screen on" and the rest — are saved on your device only. They are never uploaded to us and never shared. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes them.
Recordings
If you record a channel, the recording is saved straight to your own device, in an "APPNEST TV" folder in your gallery. Recordings are never uploaded to APPNEST or anyone else. You can delete them from your gallery at any time.
Notifications and background playback
APPNEST TV can keep a channel playing while the app is in the background, and can record in the background. To do that it runs a foreground service and shows a notification, such as the media controls or the recording timer. Those notifications are made on your device and carry no personal data.
If you allow notifications, the app may also send match reminders, live-channel updates and service notices through Firebase Cloud Messaging. Firebase creates a random token for delivery; it does not give APPNEST your name, your contacts or your precise location. You can turn APPNEST TV notifications off at any time in Android settings.
Analytics and device information
So we know where the app is used and which versions are still running, APPNEST TV sends a small amount of anonymous device information once when it launches. It carries no name, no contacts and no account data.
- Device details: model, manufacturer, Android version, app version, language and timezone.
- Connection and location: network type and an approximate location (country and city) worked out from your IP address. We do not use GPS.
- Install info: a random device identifier, so repeat reports from the same phone are not counted twice.
This is used only in aggregate. It is never sold, and never used to identify you personally.
Permissions we use
- Internet and network state: to load the channel list and play video.
- Foreground service and notifications: for background playback, recording status and optional alerts.
- Wake lock: to keep a recording running while the screen is off.
APPNEST TV does not ask for your contacts, your camera, your microphone or your precise location.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell or rent your data. We use Firebase Cloud Messaging, from Google, to deliver optional notifications, and an IP geolocation provider only to turn an IP address into an approximate country and city.
Video streams come from the channels' own broadcasters and content networks. When you play a channel, your device connects to that provider to receive the video.
Deleting your data
Your favourites, settings and recordings live on your device — clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes them, along with its Firebase token. Recordings can be deleted from your gallery.
The only thing on our servers is the anonymous analytics record. To have it deleted, email [email protected] with your device model and roughly when you installed the app, so we can find it.
Children's privacy
APPNEST TV is meant for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only data it sends is the anonymous device information described above, which identifies no one.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Any update appears on this page with a new date at the top.
